Description of Event: The Sweetest Day Banquet is our annual event raising awareness of domestic violence and fundraising for nonprofits that contribute to our mission of ending violence against women. This event is hosted annual in October in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and this year will be our 12th year holding it. We have collaborated with RAINN for this event in the past, both through having speakers from the Speakers Bureau and by donating to RAINN with the proceeds from our fundraiser, and we would love to continue that relationship this year.

Where: Washington DC

When: Friday, October 20, 2023 from 6-9pm

In-person or Remote: In Person

Additional Information: Our national philanthropy is to combat violence against women, so we would especially love if a speaker could touch on this, either from personal experience or a work background. In addition, our audience for the event will largely be college students, but we are open to any and all speakers that would be willing to contribute to our event!

Alpha Chi Omega DVA Week in Chicago

Description of Event:  In October, we will be hosting a week-long fundraiser for WINGS, a local domestic violence shelter in Chicago. To capstone this week, we will be hosting an educational campus wide event in which we honor organizations that do so much for survivors and learn more about the importance of Domestic Violence Awareness.

Additional Information: This event is to recognize local and national actors working to impact the lives of survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. The event will provide attendees with a catered breakfast and will be honoring speakers from various DV and SA organizations who will speak on their experiences of working with survivors, or will incorporate survivor stories. These are to highlight the importance of domestic violence awareness. Speakers are asked to talk for about 30 minutes.

University of Maryland Reclaim the Red Event November 2023

Description of Event: Our Reclaim the Red campaign is in response to the Red Zone, the time between the start of the fall semester and Thanksgiving break in which reports of sexual assault spikes. This year our focus will be on Sexual Health & Rape Culture. We want to work on destigmatizing sexual health along with working on changing Campus culture regarding sexual misconduct.

Additional Information: We are open to any gender, age, experience, etc. to speak to this experience, but ideally would like this person to identify as a woman as we are a women’s group. The event would be in-person in our offices, but we would simultaneously steam via zoom to remote employees.
