Description of Event: We are writing to see if the RAINN team can help us connect with volunteers from the Speakers Bureau of any age range and gender who are survivors of teen dating violence, domestic violence, or intimate partner violence. Specifically, we are open to interviewing survivors who have firsthand experience with grooming and the challenges of navigating the legal system.

Interview for Sexual Assault Cases October 2023

Description of Event: I am a senior college student at Cabrini University working with a team researching the topic of Title IX sexual assault cases in K-12 schools. Our project is due in December but we are expected to get our interviews done the whole month of October. We are looking to interview a survivor that has experienced sexual assault/violence in high school that is willing to share their stories. If they are not comfortable with being on camera or sharing their story, we can work some things out. Such as, they can remain anonymous and we can edit their voices and blur their faces out.

Age range doesn't necessarily matter, but the play focuses on the story of a girl aged 29 when the event happened, so it may be nice to have someone who parallels that experience, but I think anyone would still bring value to the conversation.

Press Conference to encourage movement on a bill October 2023 NYC

Description of Event: RAINN and its coalition partners are holding a press conference to encourage movement on a bill to close the voluntary incapacitation loophole in New York. Currently, New York defines incapacitation as it relates to sexual assault as involuntary. This leaves survivors who are assaulted while voluntarily incapacitated by use of drugs or alcohol without the ability to seek justice for the violence they experienced.
