RAINN Statement on NFL’s Decision to Appeal Watson’s Six-Game Suspension

Washington, D.C. - RAINN released the following statement after the NFL announced it will appeal Deshaun Watson’s six-game suspension following multiple allegations of sexual misconduct by Watson:

“We are pleased that the NFL has decided to appeal Deshaun Watson’s suspension. While no disciplinary action will undo the trauma inflicted by Watson, a suspension of at least one year will send a strong message that his actions have no place in the NFL, or in our society. We are hopeful that Commissioner Goodell will make the right call.” - Scott Berkowitz, president, RAINN.

RAINN’s National Sexual Assault Hotline offers free, confidential, 24/7 support at 800.656.HOPE (4673) and online.RAINN.org.
