Statement from RAINN President & Founder Scott Berkowitz on the Outcome of the Harvey Weinstein Retrial

Washington, DC (Thursday, June 12, 2025)—The outcome in the Harvey Weinstein retrial is a stark reminder of the challenges survivors face in the pursuit of justice. 

The bravery of the women who spoke out against Weinstein, especially those who were called upon to do so again in this retrial, should inspire all Americans to stand behind survivors.

Healing After Child Sexual Abuse

When a perpetrator intentionally harms a minor physically, psychologically, sexually, or by acts of neglect, the crime is known as child abuse. Child sexual abuse, also known as CSA, is a form of child abuse that includes sexual activity with a victim under the age of 18 years old. While there are many forms of child sexual abuse, and CSA does not need to include physical contact between a perpetrator and a child, it’s important to know that, at no point can a child consent to any form of sexual activity and sexual advances — period.

RAINN Statement on the Reversal of Bill Cosby’s Conviction

Washington, D.C. – RAINN today released the following statement following the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturning Bill Cosby’s conviction for sexual assault:
