RAINN Partners with Lyft to Create a Culture of Safety and Respect

RAINN today announced a partnership with Lyft to help them hold drivers and riders accountable for maintaining a culture of safety. RAINN’s consulting services team will work with Lyft to create mandatory Community Safety Education for drivers, strengthen community guidelines, and develop trainings for Lyft team members, riders and drivers. Lyft will also make a donation to support RAINN’s victim service, public education, and public policy programs.

“Every 92 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted. This is a pervasive problem that no one actor can solve alone. We are pleased to partner with Lyft and grateful for their $1.5 million commitment to RAINN. We look forward to continued collaboration to develop the appropriate education for their users and to inform the policies, tools, and features being developed to strengthen the Lyft community,” said Scott Berkowitz, RAINN’s president.

Mary Winfield, VP of Customer Experience and Trust at Lyft, said, “We’re committed to playing a significant role in connecting our communities with transportation, and we understand the responsibilities that come along with that. We've known since the beginning that as part of our mission, we must heavily invest in safety. That’s why we’re partnering with RAINN, the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization to ensure our tools are effective at protecting against bad actors. With counsel from RAINN’s experts, we’re doubling down on our commitment to sexual violence prevention for our whole community.”
