RAINN and Macmillan Publishers are teaming up on a campaign to support survivors of sexual violence. #Speak4RAINN and a matching donation campaign in support of RAINN’s programs coincide with the release of Speak: The Graphic Novel, adapted from Laurie Halse Anderson’s original novel Speak and illustrated by Emily Carroll.
The campaign invites supporters to donate to RAINN in exchange for unique gifts and experiences from Anderson and Carroll, including original artwork, opportunities to meet the author and illustrator, and signed copies of the newly released work. Macmillan Publishers will match the first $5,000 in donations to the campaign. All proceeds from #Speak4RAINN will benefit RAINN in their work to help survivors, inform and educate the nation about sexual violence, and improve the criminal justice response to these crimes.
“We’re grateful to be working with Macmillan Publishers, Laurie, and Emily. Their support and generosity goes a long way to support survivors,” says Jodi Omear, vice president of communications at RAINN. “Last year, RAINN helped 209,480 survivors, and the numbers continue to grow. This campaign helps us ensure survivors get the help they need and deserve.”
Anderson and Carroll also will be appearing at Politics & Prose in Washington, DC on February 6 from 7-8 p.m. as part of the store’s ‘We Need to Talk About’ event series for teens. During the free event, customers may choose to donate a portion of their purchases to RAINN.
