WASHINGTON – SEPTEMBER 12, 2017 – RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization, has developed an online tool to help colleges choose the right sexual assault prevention program for their campuses. The Prevention Navigator provides a forum for college administrators and students to anonymously identify and provide feedback about sexual assault prevention programs in which they have participated.
The Prevention Navigator is designed to to help colleges make a more informed choice when selecting the best sexual assault prevention program for their institution. It allows students and administrators to share their experiences and rate sexual assault prevention programs at their universities.
“With 11.2 percent of graduate and undergraduate students experiencing rape or sexual assault, university-wide prevention programs play an essential role in campus safety,” says RAINN’s campus programs manager, Nancy Amestoy. “This new tool allows students and administrators across the country to join an important conversation about effective prevention strategies.”
Throughout the development of the Prevention Navigator, RAINN worked closely with college administrators, researchers, students, prevention professionals, and program developers to create a tool that would best represent the needs of college campuses nationwide.
The Prevention Navigator can be found at rainn.org. It is a free resource to assist universities in their efforts to combat campus sexual assault. Programs interested in being listed can apply at any time at PreventionNavigator.rainn.org/apply.
