Omega Phi Alpha and RAINN Announce Philanthropic Partnership

Omega Phi Alpha, a national service sorority with collegiate members who actively serve their communities, and RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization, today announced a new national philanthopic partnership.

“As an organization that is truly committed to creating impactful community service and educational opportunities for our members, we are thrilled to partner with RAINN. This partnership will educate our members about sexual violence awareness and prevention, and create opportunities for our members to spread awareness on their campus and beyond,” said Alyssa Bernhardt, Omega Phi Alpha Managing Director.

Omega Phi Alpha is a sisterhood that serves communities and develops service-minded leaders. The purpose and goals of the sorority is to develop friendship, leadership and cooperation by promoting service to the university community, to the community at-large, to the members of the sorority, and to the nations of the world.

“RAINN is excited to launch this partnership with Omega Phi Alpha, our first service sorority partner, in an effort to raise awareness about sexual violence on college campuses and increase support for campus survivors,” said Julia George, RAINN development director.

RAINN’s other engagements with college communities include national philanthropic partnerships with Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity, Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, and Chi Phi Fraternity, collaboration with large-scale collegiate organizations, and an annual day of awareness and education during Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, RAINN Day.

The rape kit backlog is currently one of the biggest obstacles to prosecuting perpetrators of sexual violence.
