Simintha Esson

Simintha Esson is a nonprofit leader and fundraiser who has spent more than 20 years turning her passion for social impact into a career. She believes fundraising is ultimately about giving organizations the resources to do more of what matters. Throughout her career, she has raised millions of dollars and built fundraising programs that have enabled national organizations to expand their impact.

Known for her data-driven and tech-savvy approach, Simintha turns ambitious fundraising goals into clear plans for growth. She has developed strategic funding plans and compelling materials that demonstrate both impact and value. She has also transformed how organizations use digital tools, data, and automation to reach more donors, strengthen engagement, and make fundraising easier and more effective. Her work has included collaborations with leaders at some of the world’s most recognized companies, including Walgreens, Johnson & Johnson, Amazon/AWS, and Google. An innovator at heart, Simintha challenges conventional thinking and develops smarter solutions to complex challenges that move organizations forward.

Prior to joining RAINN, Simintha held executive leadership roles at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Heart Rhythm Society, the Council of Chief State School Officers, and the Infectious Diseases Society of America Foundation. Her career also includes leadership roles with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network and the American Diabetes Association.

In addition to her executive work, Simintha is a lecturer at Northeastern University, where she teaches graduate-level courses in nonprofit management, marketing, and fundraising. She earned both her bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s degree in social justice from Loyola University Chicago, where she later served on the Alumni Association Board. She has also served on the board of the Center for Healthcare Innovation (CHI).

Outside of work, Simintha loves running, boxing, fashion, and traveling, especially anywhere with a beautiful beach. But of all the roles she has held, her favorite is being a mom. Her daughter keeps her laughing, moving, and regularly reminds her who is really in charge.
