“This weekend, one survivor’s story was impossible to ignore.
News outlets reported that a former Cornell University student is taking a bold step two years after she says she was drugged and sexually assaulted by multiple fraternity members: she is seeking accountability through a civil lawsuit.
No criminal charges were filed at the time. Her attorney says that while two students were expelled, others faced consequences so minimal they included writing essays. She ultimately left Cornell.
Now, she is refusing to be silent.
And neither should we.”

Prevention & Response Tools Already Exist
Every school, system, and platform can already:
√ Offer trained, 24/7 support survivors can reach any time.
√ Train staff to respond with care, not blame.
√ Teach consent, boundaries, and bystander skills early and often.
√ Follow Title IX and hold people accountable when they cause harm.
√ Build safety into their products so abuse is harder to organize, share, or hide.
None of this is new. What’s missing is follow-through.
