September 6, 2006 - This past summer, RAINN's National Sexual Assault Hotline reached a milestone — connecting one million callers to the support they need from local services. The hotline launched in 1994 and has grown to include over 1,100 affiliate crisis centers who provide crucial help to victims of sexual assault and their friends and family.
To commemorate those with the courage to call and ask for help as well as the staff and volunteers who answer the hotline, RAINN created a special website. Past public service announcements from celebrities such as Tori Amos and Jennifer Anniston can be viewed. As well as a section included messages from survivors who have received help from the National Sexual Assault Hotline. You can even send friends e-cards to raise awareness about sexual assault. And there are many other ways to get involved in the fight against sexual violence.
