Dr. Kimberly Goodman
Director of Research and Evaluation

Dr. Kimberly Goodman has more than 20 years of experience in victimization, violence prevention and intervention, and victim services research. As the director of research and evaluation at RAINN, she oversees the conceptualization, design, analysis and interpretation of data across the DoD Safe Helpline and National Sexual Assault Hotline.
She leads a multidisciplinary team to integrate anonymous data from survivors and staff, generating insights to inform service provision and training. The team examines patterns in victimization characteristics discussed and services provided across military and civilian hotlines.
Before joining RAINN, Dr. Goodman’s research focused on coping and disclosure in the aftermath of victimization, as well as using conflicting information sources to enhance understanding of youth victimization. Her experience traverses several settings including longitudinal, community-based studies and hospital-based violence intervention.
This work included the application of person-centered analytic approaches and social-ecological frameworks in victimology and violence prevention.
Dr. Goodman received her BS from William and Mary, and her MS and PhD from Virginia Commonwealth University. She completed her postdoctoral training in Prevention Science from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
