Dashboard
The Dashboard is your side of the Online Hotline, where you conduct all activity during a shift.
From left to right:
- Messaging window
- works like any other instant-messaging program — type below, read above
- emoticons for expressing mood
- References provide one-click access to a stored library of pre-written material, instantly typed out for you:
- crisis support language and other standard responses
- medical and legal information
- national, state, and local resources
- session start and end required topics
- Queues show how many visitors are waiting for an available volunteer
- Click the TAKE CALL button only when you're ready to start a session
- Who's Online lists other volunteers and supervisors working
- Contact Supervisor button lets you ask for assistance with a session or request a session be transferred to another volunteer
- The Statistics box lets you enter demographic information voluntarily shared by the visitor for RAINN to use in reports. This information is not connected to the visitor or the volunteer.
Next, we'll End the Shift and Log Out.
IMPORTANT: you must click the End Shift button, not the close button of the window, to end your shift.
Click the END SHIFT button.
