Alex Sheen and supporters 10,000 feet from the Seymour Avenue finish line

On Tuesday, July 9th, Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight released a joint video warmly thanking the Cleveland community for its support and generosity. Among those supporters is Alex Sheen, who pledged to walk 240 miles across the state of Ohio in 10 days to honor the survivors’ strength and perseverance.

Two days after the Cleveland survivors were discovered after being held captive for over a decade, 28-year-old Sheen promised to dedicate 10 days of his life to acts of kindness in honor of Berry, DeJesus and Knight. He called his promise #NeverEnough.

Sheen is a man of his word. On Tuesday, June 25th, he completed his journey, ending at 2207 Seymour Avenue where Berry, DeJesus and Knight were imprisoned for more than 10 years. He was warmly received and joined by more than 100 supporters ranging from members of RAINN’s Speaker Bureau, caring strangers and friends and family. Gina's mother, Nancy Ruiz, was waiting in front of the house to greet Alex as well as Second District Cleveland Police Cmdr. Keith Sulzer, who gave Sheen a small medal as a token of appreciation. Sulzer was heavily involved in the search for the girls. Click here to watch Alex take the last steps of his 240-mile journey.

Although Alex’s walk is over, you can still help Berry, DeJesus, Knight, and other survivors by donating $10 to RAINN, or by filling out a promise card and sharing it through social media using the hashtag #NeverEnough.
