Personal Message: For Hotline Volunteers and Centers
Hotline Caller

The board and staff of RAINN offer a heartfelt thanks to the volunteers and staff at the more than 1,100 rape crisis centers across the country that work with us. Without your hard work and dedication, the National Sexual Assault Hotline would not exist.

RAINN provides the technology, coordination and promotion for the hotline, but local rape crisis center volunteers and staff are on the front lines of service. They provide direct counseling to victims who call the hotline — 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Centers also provide many other important services in their communities to support survivors. This is the hardest — and undoubtedly most important — aspect of sexual assault services.

Volunteers and staff who answer the hotline calls complete an extensive training process before they can serve as hotline volunteers. Their commitment to serving others is an inspiration.

The collective work of each center and volunteer has helped us reach one million people in need through the National Sexual Assault Hotline. Their continued dedication has also helped us develop RAINN's groundbreaking National Sexual Assault Online Hotline, set to launch this year.

To local centers, thank you for making this vision to provide support to all who need it, anywhere in the country, a reality — for helping one million victims of sexual assault take that first step toward recovery.
