Your Body Belongs To You
Are you a kid? You are a very important person, and your body belongs to you.
It is not okay for anyone to touch you in a way that makes you feel scared or bad. Also, no one should make you look at things that make you feel scared or bad.
If someone does one of those things, it is not your fault. Tell a grown-up you trust if you do not feel safe with another kid or grown-up. You do not need to keep it a secret.
Say “No!”
You are allowed to say “No!” if someone tries to hug you, kiss you, or touch you. You can even say “No!” if the person is older or in charge, like your teacher or a family member.
You can also say things like:
- “Stop!”
- “Don’t touch me!”
- “Leave me alone!”
Tell Someone
Tell a grown-up you trust if someone touches any part of your body that is covered by your underwear or swimsuit.
If the person you tell does not help you, tell a different grown-up. Keep asking grown-ups for help until someone helps you.
Some Secrets Are Okay To Tell
You do not have to keep a secret that makes you feel scared or bad. Even if someone does something nice for you, you do not have to keep it a secret. Any time someone says something or does something to you that you don’t like, it’s smart to tell a grown-up.
Pictures Are Private
No one should take your picture if you don’t want them to. It is okay to say “No!” to someone who wants to take your picture.
If someone wants to take a picture of you under your clothes, that is never okay. They are doing something wrong! Tell a grown-up you trust right away.
It’s Okay To Feel Scared
You might feel scared to tell a grown-up that something happened. You might feel scared of getting in trouble. It’s normal to feel scared. You can be scared AND brave at the same time! It is VERY brave to tell.
