LEGAL & LAW | Case Study: Supporting Trauma-Informed Investigations

The Client

A state agency responsible for safeguarding civil and consumer rights

The Challenge

After a rise in misconduct complaints filed against licensed professionals—including doctors, therapists, and service providers—the agency approached RAINN for training that would help attorneys and investigators better support survivors and encourage their continued participation throughout the legal process.

The Solution

RAINN Consulting Group developed two specialized trainings: a four-hour session for attorneys and a seven-hour session for investigators. Topics included the complexities of trauma and sexual abuse cases, common survivor barriers, trauma-informed communication techniques, and strategies for reducing bias and building trust during investigations. These trainings helped improve the quality of case handling while promoting fairness and survivor dignity.
