August 28, 2006 — RAINN recently sent the following letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales urging the fiscal support of the Sexual Assault Services Program. Below the letter from RAINN is a letter from Jessica McSparron-Bien, the Sexual Assault Program and Policy Coordinator of North Dakota Council on Abused Women's Services/Coalition Against Sexual Assault in North Dakota.
August 15, 2006 — After months of development and working with experts such as McAfee, Verisign, AOL and KnowNow, the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline has begun its pilot phase. To gather information on usage patterns, scheduling needs and call times, RAINN is administering a pilot phase of the service. July 26, 2006 — RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) commends the U.S. Congress and the president for a vitally-needed new law that will crack down on 100,000 missing sex offenders and help keep the nation's children safe from predators. The measure, known as the "The Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006" was passed by Congress and signed into law by President George W. Bush.
July 6, 2006 — Holly Dunn Pendleton, a member of the RAINN Speakers Bureau, was recently honored in Washington at the 2006 Jefferson Awards. Holly is the only surviving victim of a serial killer and rapist, who was recently executed in Texas for his crimes. July 5, 2006 — All 50 states are now participating in the National Sex Offender Public Registry (NSOPR) Web site, the Justice Department announced. The Department of Justice-sponsored site allows parents and concerned citizens to search existing public state and territory sex offender registries beyond their own states.
June 27, 2006 — We are pleased to announce that the National Sexual Assault Online Hotline Training has been approved as a National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Continuing Education Program. The course is an online distance learning program that is worth 5 Continuing Education credits.

May 9, 2006 — As part of VAWA 2005 (Public Law No: 109-162), the Sexual Assault Services Program (SASP) was initiated to provide assistance to victims of sexual violence. Specifically, SASP will provide funds for services providers and make resources available to state, territorial and tribal sexual assault coalitions who work to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of local rape crisis centers.
April 4, 2006 — As facts continue to unfold in the highly publicized case involving Duke University lacrosse players, members of the media are looking to RAINN to offer expert advice and opinions.
