Mick Foley Smashes his #10forRAINN Goal
Mick Foley turned to Twitter last month to announce his campaign to raise $10,000 for the National Sexual Assault Hotline. Five weeks later, following news coverage around the world and thousands of retweets, Foley had smashed through his goal — 12 times over.
Hundreds of friends and fans contributed to help Foley, including his employer, TNA Wrestling, and former employer, WWE head Vince McMahon. Several donors are even taking Foley up on his offer mow their lawn for a donation of $5,000 or more.
“As an Online Hotline volunteer, board member and donor, Mick is tireless is helping RAINN help survivors get the help they need and deserve,” said Scott Berkowitz, president and founder of RAINN. “He has also inspired so many others to get involved. The comments that came with many of the donations show how much his fans love him — and how much they appreciate his work against sexual violence.”
Foley ended the campaign with an eBay auction of wrestling memorabilia, including his prized Mr. Socko. Foley’s friends also contributed items, including Smashing Pumpkins’ frontman Billy Corgan, who auctioned off his signed guitar.
